School Out for Summer (June 25, 2006)
Back to News

With school closing immanent, The Doukhobor Discovery Centre has now completed its series of school tours for the spring session.

This year saw literally hundreds of students attending the museum, ranging from pre-school to university students from Selkirk.

Many were from Castlegar, but there were also schools present from Grand Forks, Trail, Nakusp, and even Spokane.

There may be a few more student tours throughout the summer from private schools and music and arts camps, but most have been completed until school resumes in September.

Although there have been some senior bus tours so far from Victoria and Vancouver, the Doukhobor Village is now expecting more major tours from Saskatchewan, Kelowna, and Arizona, along with participants of nearby Kootenay Lake Elder Hostel.
A school group prepares for their tour; on this one, students will be required to do a report of the day's visit.

Individual tourists have ranged from as far away as India, Russia, England, Singapore and many states such as Georgia and Kentucky.

Many of the tourist groups have also been sampling the delicious Doukhobor food at the Village Bistro, an additional treat of the Doukhobor Discovery experience.
