Trees Arrive From Grand Forks - July 29th, 2010

Netta Zeberoff offers advice to Doukhobor Discovery Centre staff member Ben Buckley about placement of 60 newly arrived trees and shrubs.

These plants are provided through the provincial Trees For Tomorrow Program in cooperation with the City of Castlegar, www.treesfortomorrow.gov.bc.ca.

The trees arrived from Grand Forks with a stowaway marmot, which escaped when the trees were being removed from the pallet. It appears that this marmot had come to Grand Forks from Vancouver Island. It was then decided that it was not the right type for intermingling in Grand Forks, but they were unable to capture it for return. Now it has taken up residence in the Centre’s implement shed. The Centre regrets any effects to our ecological balance because of its presence.
