Welcome
to the Doukhobor Discovery Centre's Digital Jukebox! |
|
This archive is a digital representation of the Museum's musical holdings as of October 2003, updated July 2004. (Hi speed connection is recommended if you are reviewing this online - otherwise a wait of up to a few minutes could ensue in previewing the music found within). If your system doesn't already have Shockwave from Macromedia, you will need to download it by either clicking on the 'Get Shockwave' icon to the left or go here. After installation, please return to this page. While this collection does not include the entire holdings of the Doukhobor recorded repertoire, it is a complete cross representation of all recordings in our holdings, including home made records and early tapes dating back to 1948. It is possible that we may add on to this site in coming years, particularly if we make interesting discoveries of good quality - in some cases we had to omit some historical selections because the quality is unrestorable. If some listener/researcher is searching for a particular item and does not find it here, I suggest that you may get in touch with us in case we have it on file; in a similar vein, if you feel that some item should be added to this collection, please let us know, particularly if you have a good copy of the selection in your possession. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this fascinating glimpse into the oral tradition of the Doukhobors, both past and present, as well as some of the more contemporary music as recorded by Doukhobors. A note about the content: In some previews you will find a complete selection of the album's contents for listening. In some others, there are only a few previews available though the entire album's contents are in fact listed. In the case of newer titles that are available for sale either at the Museum or from the artist(s) themselves, we opted to only provide a few samples of that material as to encourage the purchase of that material you hear by preview. The links on the menu to the left are self-explanatory though I would encourage you to especially view the 'Restoration' link as it describes some of the process used in developing this project, and an interesting 'before & after' sample. We hope this digital archive will
adequately serve those who have an interest in the music of the Doukhobors.
For authors, publishers, digital developers (web or other) or film/video
