| Songs of the Soul Album Notes: Nature and God are the motivating powers that have influenced Polly and Helen to produce this long playing album of their favorite hymns. Both ladies grew up in the area of Pass Creek and
its famous fall of water which was the source of irrigation for the flourishing
community orchards and gardens which Peter Lordly Verigin and his faithful followers
developed from the rugged forests that blankets these Kootenay Valleys. As young
girls, they developed a love for nature as depicted their song, "The Miraculous
Month of May". They, along with the other Community folk, toiled with devotion
in the gardens that are a backbone of the Doukhobor life style. To this day, the
two sisters love flowers, gardens and orchards, they lovingly nurture the miracles
of nature. Many of the hymns in this album Polly and Helen learned from the late
Anna Petrovna Markova, whose teaching of kindness and love they cherish. In their
humble way, they dedicate this collection of hymns to her memory in their "Songs
of the Soul".
