Village Bistro

During construction of the Doukhobor Village by many volunteers, an outdoor concession stand with covered patio was built as a place for the workers to break for lunch. The concession, originally called the Borshch and Bread Building, proved so popular that it was later fully enclosed for use as a seasonal restaurant, and successfully operated by the Voykin family for 15 years. The restaurant's most popular menu items were the Doukhobor specialties, Borshch (beet soup) and Pyrohi (cheese and vegetable tarts).

When the Voykin family retired, the restaurant was leased to a number of operators with varied menus and became known as the Village Bistro. Over the years the Bistro began to require major repairs that no Band-Aid treatments could fix, and eventually it was closed for renovation.
